This mount is not customizable enough. You need additional spacers, arm lengths, arm shapes, etc. and other things to make it a more versatile amount. I’m finding it difficult to work with my particular setup. I ended up having to add a 10 mm spacer between the clamp and the arm, so it would work.
I just got this cover for a second set. Looks very tough and fits perfectly.
Easy connection with the device.
Working as expected.
Purchased the Chigee Q-R Module for BMW for my 2017.5 R1200GS Rallye. Bottom line: the plastic is not molded to the proper dimensional precision and fits into the BMW cradle excessively tight. It damaged and ruined my $246 BMW cradle, cracking and chipping the cradle’s latch pawls. The pawls are not available as separate replacement parts, and so you have to buy the entire cradle assembly at $246. FYI, I’ve had experience with 3 different devices over the years that utilize the BMW factory Nav-prep cradle on my bike and they all fit properly: 1) my NavVI Garmin-made GPSr unit that I’ve had for 7 years since the bike was new, 2) a Carpuride 702BS Android-Auto/CarPlay unit I’ve had for a year, 3) a phone charger adapter insert that mounts into the cradle I’ve had for 4 years. All 3 of these devices insert and release easily and precisely into the bike’s cradle. But the Chigee Q-R Module fits very tight in the cradle; you have to push hard for it seat-in fully, which Chigee encourages. Then after it’s seated, it’s difficult to push and cradle’s slide-bar into position to lock the Chigee device in place. And this is where the problem lies: as the slide-bar moves to the right, the cradle’s internal mechanism engages two small latching pawls downward and into two slots on top of the device being mounted. With Chigee’s Q-R Module for BMW, the slots’ positions are mis-aligned with the cradle pawls because it doesn’t seat precisely (impossible to see and detect). When the pawls try to engage but can’t fit into the slots, it chips and breaks-off their tips. Result: cradle no longer holds devices securely, and they can inadvertently pop-out. After repairing/replacing my cradle, I ended up precision milling the bad Chigee Module to fit properly (precision milled 0.22mm from top edge, precision broach bottom edge) to the exact dimensions of my Nav VI unit. Now it fits perfectly and precisely into my $246 cradle with no interference and no free-play.
Hello,
We are truly sorry to hear about the issue you’ve encountered with the Chigee Q-R Module for BMW and the damage to your BMW cradle. We understand how frustrating this situation can be.
Our BMW Quick-Release Modules are typically produced from the same production template, so there shouldn’t be any dimensional differences. However, given your experience, we recommend contacting our customer support team directly with more detailed information. They will assist in troubleshooting the issue, and if necessary, we can send you a replacement module.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.
Best regards,
This is a great unit. Very well made and fits so well on my TMax it looks almost like original equipment. The software experience is outstanding; the best I have ever used on two wheels. The Bluetooth connection to my Android phone is no fuss and almost instant, and the cameras give a good clear view. My only criticism is that I would like to see better mounting hardware for the cameras, remote, etc. I feel that an eco-system as high quality as this deserves a little more thought (and, budget??) to go towards the bits that hold it on the motorbike. Overall: Highly recommended
