Review of Chigee AIO 5 Lite | gravelandroad

For over a year now, we have found "hybrid" devices (as I call them) on the market that aim to simplify our lives on motorcycles, thanks mainly to their longevity, as they can do multiple things together, all enclosed in an easy-to-use touchscreen.

Obviously, we are well acquainted with this technology as we use it daily since our cars are equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto systems, which allow us to interact with calls, messaging, music, and much more without having to take our eyes off the road, making the driving experience comfortable and relaxing.

But does all this also apply to motorcycles? Some Chinese manufacturers have designed devices making them useful for motorcycles as well, managing to displace the use of navigators and smartphones and implementing useful functions.

Our editorial team has decided to test all the various solutions on the market, of various types and price ranges. Chigee is one of the brands that has attracted my curiosity the most, because in addition to having the usual Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functions, it has a very respectable infotainment system, with a very clear display, solid and premium wiring, but above all with the possibility of connecting two external cameras for filming. I won't go into explaining the importance of a dash cam; nowadays, I consider it a necessary solution for those of us who live the motorcycle life to the fullest.

This device has the Blind Spot Assist function, or more commonly called the blind spot sensor, for smart and always connected riding in a single, practical device.
The product I'm talking about is called the AIO-5 Lite.

At first glance, after unboxing the product, I was completely satisfied, firstly for the quality and manufacturing, the meticulous care they took in creating the device is truly fantastic, and then moving on to the wiring, which is of extremely high quality with even a screw-in attachment system, something that can't be found even in motorcycle navigators from renowned brands, and an incredible attention to detail in the packaging. A true Premium product.

Device installation and configuration

I started by fixing the device on the handlebars of my motorcycle and, very pleasantly, I really appreciated the quality of the support bracket. Perfect and equipped with all the adapters to be able to mount it on any handlebar having a different section.

Once I found the ideal position, I moved directly to laying the cables, which did not cause me any kind of problem since my motorcycle has no fairing and having a trellis frame, it was very simple to carry out a discreet cable management. I connected the two poles to the battery and locked the yellow cable so that it would turn on directly from the ignition system, without worrying about turning it off manually, thus avoiding accidentally draining the battery.

After completing the assembly, I moved on to configuring the device, which was very intuitive thanks to the well-detailed instructions included in the package. Trust me, everything is really simple, but I want to emphasize, and believe me, this is not something everyone does, the possibility of selecting the Italian language. A round of applause for Chigee!

In addition to having Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the device has other very useful functions such as the tire pressure monitoring system (very reliable and precise), the possibility of recording via cameras (they record in high definition), and the Blind Spot Assist setting that can be adjusted to our liking both with the inclination of the rear camera done manually, and also choosing from which speed the activation begins. You may be wondering, "but how does it manage to do all this?" Simple, because in the package you will also find a GPS antenna to be positioned directly on the fairing of the motorcycle.
But the novelties don't end there. You can mount a very convenient remote control that you can use instead of the touch, very intuitive to use and rechargeable via a USB-C port.

These are all the accessories that you can purchase together with the device, but there are many others that you can find on their website because there are truly options for all tastes.

Another aspect that I care about concerns the longevity of the product; it's no coincidence that for those who have BMW motorcycles, the device can be directly connected to the wheel or joystick, to have a coordinated system almost as if it came out of the factory, designed to last over time.

Conclusions

I am very attentive to all technologies that may interest the world of motorcycling and often skeptical, but believe me, this device will change your riding experience, also preserving your smartphone from more extreme use and exposure to wind, speed, and bad weather. A device with a significant price, without a doubt, but justified by a high level of quality both in terms of software and hardware

About Giamba

Passionate about motorcycles since I was just a little older than a boy. My first motorcycle was a Ducati Monster. How many emotions that wonderful two-cylinder engine gave me. I fell in love to the point that even my second bike is a Ducati Hypermotard. The emotions have tripled, but the beautiful thing is that I started making small modifications and taking care of it. I learned to use various fundamental tools for maintenance. I can define myself as a great enthusiast to the point of feeling the need to create my own space where I can take care of my motorcycle in total relaxation. How nice it is to spend hours in your own garage pampering your motorcycle.
